Victoria Falls Big 5 Safari

A week long Big 5 safari from Africa’s iconic Victoria Falls. This wildlife bonanza is available year round to take in the splendour of the World Heritage Site and experience some of the best big game in southern Africa’s hinterland. We spend a comfortable 3 nights in Victoria Falls with enough time to actively explore the area. An intense big 5 safari adventure follows for 3 nights in Hwange.

"The Smoke that Thunders" is how locals refer to the largest curtain of falling water on the planet - a World Heritage Site and natural wonder of the world.

We spend 3 nights at the gracious Ilala Lodge. It's the closest hotel to Victoria Falls and the town centre. There's time to do intense game viewing in Zambezi National Park, get active in Africa's "adventure capital" or simply soak up the splendour of the rain forests overlooking the falls themselves.

We then take a short flight for 3 nights in the heart of Hwange National Park. This reserve on the north eastern border with Botswana is home to the Presidential herd of elephants and shares the same eco system as Chobe. It's also especially known for its lions, leopards and rhino.

The intimate safari camp nestling in a grove of ancient false mopane trees is your base for the following 3 nights. It overlooks an extremely productive waterhole which attracts a variety of game and predators. We sleep in large, safe and comfortable safari tents and dine on an open deck with a fire pit to complete the quintessential Hwange experience.

Hwange National Park

Home to some of Africa’s largest elephant herds and renowned for its wild dog population Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest safari wilderness. Predators are common, buffalo and other big game is exceptional, rhino are present but elusive. This massive national park is easily accessed from Victoria Falls. It’s a year round option, at its very best in the dry season from August to early November.
