Whitefronted Bee-eaters - Mana Pools, Zimbabwe

Zambezi logo

Whitefronted bee-eaters (Merops bullockoides) are common residents throughout the Zambezi Valley.  Generally found on stretches of rivers which include steep banks.

This group of birds was photographed on a Classic Africa Safaris canoe trail in 1999.

Birding is good year-round but generally best during our wet season from November through to about April when migrant species are well represented in the Zambezi Valley.
