...safaris this year

Kenya's safari industry has been active for over a century.  In maturing especially during the 80's and 90's it created a huge mainstream following of tourists who've tended to stick to packaged tours characterised by minibuses and busy hotels.

However, in the last decade especially, three and more generations of Kenyans with rich traditions, healthy outdoor lifestyles and a solid taste for good fun have created bush homes, lodges and camps where friends and visitors are encouraged to have adventures and take fuller advantage of a great climate and lots of open space!

So whilst Kenya goes through some dark days to happier times we're keen to see fewer tourist crowds and very pleased to welcome the adventurers!

This is a taste of what's on offer...contact us for the latest safari suggestions in Kenya...

Fly-in SafarisLaikipia views

The best way to get a real flavour of Kenya is to combine two or more of the national reserves. Safari Link and Air Kenya provide a regular schedule service linking the main areas of interest – the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Meru, Laikipia and the Coast - with Nairobi.

We can tailor make an itinerary for you depending on budget and how much time you have to spend, and can recommend camps in the more remote areas so you can really escape the crowds.

Family Safaris

Kenya is a fabulously family-friendly destination with most lodges and camps geared to hosting younger guests and few imposing a minimum age limit.

You'll find that early, child friendly meals, baby sitting facilities and special activities are widely offered.

Kenya also has a number of dedicated family rooms and private houses that are perfect for dictating your own pace and schedule.

Migration SafarisRiver crossing chaos

The migration is active in Kenya’s Masai Mara for 3 months during August / September / October. The migration itself involves around 1.5 million wildebeest, gazelle and zebra on the move.

The migration is always extremely busy. Unfortunately this can apply to some areas even when the migration isn’t in the vicinity.

When the migration is “on”, space is at a premium, prices are relatively high and advance bookings are essential.

We work with smaller outfits with the flexibility and real interest to get out into the bush before the hordes arrive.

These smaller outfits are without doubt a far better bet – in some cases more expensive but definitely better value for money.

Speak to us about options in both the Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.  We strongly recommend these guidelines on how to plan a migration safari.

Manda Bay, Lamu ArchipelagoRomantic and Honeymoon Safaris

Whether you’re on honeymoon or just wanting a romantic safari made for two, we can recommend some of the most stunning locations, intimate properties and out of this world experiences.

From sleeping out under the stars to private dining and honeymoon suites, we can take care of the extra touches.

Adventure TripsZebra from Saruni, greater Mara

Kenya has plenty to offer for anyone looking beyond the traditional safari experience. Camel trekking, horse riding, quad biking, bush walks, fly camping, river swimming, helicopter safaris, dhow trips...You can choose to do as much or as little as you please. Laikipia is a particular favourite for more adventurous travellers.

Specialist Trips

Lakes Victoria, Baringo and Bogoria and Tsavo and Meru are of particular interest to birders. We can offer dedicated bird watching itineraries to take in some of the highlights. Other specialist options include cultural experiences. Ask us for further information.
