Highlights
- If you're short on time, this safari is the preferred way to see the very best of Namibia
- This is a "small group" safari on which an aircraft with pilot/guide accompanies you for the full duration of the trip - all of Namibia's top destinations are visited
- Sossusvlei is renowned for its bewitching dune and desert scenery - it's also an ideal place to gain an appreciation for the dune life of the Namib desert
- A scenic flight up the Skeleton Coast includes the shipwreck sites of the Eduard Bolen and Shaunee
- Visits to Walvis Bay and Swakopmund are included in this safari
- Damaraland is one of Namibia's least accessible regions and contains the country's best known prehistoric rock paintings and engravings
- Etosha, Namibia's premier wildlife destination, is accessed from the private Ongava reserve - this is the best spot from which to explore Etosha plus take advantage of tracking game on foot and undertake night drives in pursuit of nocturnal wildlife on the private reserve
Best time of the year
- All year although May is the loveliest month, with September a very good second place!
- Rains generally fall between December and the end of March - the best time to see Namibia's birdlife (home to about 70% of Southern Africa's 887 recorded species)
Best Access
By air from Windhoek International Airport or Eros Airport just south of the capital
Tips and notes
- This safari starts and ends at Eros Airport
- Minimum two guests, maximum ten by special arrangement
- For two guests, departures are restricted to a Sunday with an additional Thursday departures
during July, August, September and October. Groups of four or more may depart any day of the week.
- Luggage is restricted to soft bags of 12kgs, special arrangements need to made for photographers carrying extra equipment
- The aircraft used will usually be a 5 guest plus pilot Cessna 210, but may
on occasion be replaced by other aircraft to fit the group size, e.g., a 7
guest plus pilot Cessna 402 for larger groups. The Cessna 210 is a single
engine aircraft and the 402 is a twin engine. The advantage of the 210 is
that it has a high wing for great visibility.
- This trip offers a unique glimpse of Namibia in a short space of time, you can add on further 4 or 5 days doing a Skeleton Coast safari. This combination is the ultimate for a Namibian safari.
