The
"traditional mobile" safari is a 12 bed camp available on an exclusive or
shared basis throughout the year in the Serengeti. Camp is always set up
within reach of the migration.
It has large
walk-in tents each with own private bathroom, short-drop toilet, safari
bucket showers and traditional wash stands. The camp has a dining tent with
full bar. The camp is seasonally located:
-
December to April - on the southern Serengeti plains, with access to
the main herds as they calve through mid January to mid March. The camp
could be in either the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
depending on game movements.
- May
to early July - camp moves to the Moru area, central Serengeti or
Western Corridor as the migration heads west and north. Migratory
patterns are unpredictable at this time but the wildebeest rut (May) and
the crossings of Grumeti River (June / July) are possible.
- Mid
July to November – camp moves to the northern Serengeti, close to
either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers. These are quieter, more exclusive
areas with great game viewing and access to the Serengeti's little
visited Mara River, where crossings can be spectacular.
This
traditional camp is perfectly suited to those wanting to focus on the
migration and whilst camp could be shared with others at night each party
has a private guide with exclusive vehicle use on safari.
Camp is
available for a minimum of 3 days and is suited to small groups of family or
friends.
An option is
to include the Traditional Mobile Camp with the "greater Serengeti safari"
to include Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Loliondo.
