Highlights

  • These small semi-nomadic camps have top guides in the best locations to focus on some of Tanzania's greatest wildlife in style and comfort.
  • The Nomad mobile safaris are ideally suited to small groups of friends and family.
  • The "traditional mobile camp" is a 12 bed camp offered on an exclusive or shared basis all year round in the Serengeti - the migration is primary focus.
  • The "wilderness mobile camp" is a smaller and more lightweight 8 bed camp offered on an exclusive basis only in either the Serengeti or Katavi depending on season.

The “Traditional Mobile Camp” - Serengeti, all year round

The "traditional mobile" safari is a 12 bed camp available on an exclusive or shared basis throughout the year in the Serengeti. Camp is always set up within reach of the migration.

It has large walk-in tents each with own private bathroom, short-drop toilet, safari bucket showers and traditional wash stands. The camp has a dining tent with full bar. The camp is seasonally located:Landrover on the Serengeti

  • December to April - on the southern Serengeti plains, with access to the main herds as they calve through mid January to mid March. The camp could be in either the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area depending on game movements.
  • May to early July - camp moves to the Moru area, central Serengeti or Western Corridor as the migration heads west and north. Migratory patterns are unpredictable at this time but the wildebeest rut (May) and the crossings of Grumeti River (June / July) are possible.
  • Mid July to November – camp moves to the northern Serengeti, close to either the Mara or Bologonja Rivers. These are quieter, more exclusive areas with great game viewing and access to the Serengeti's little visited Mara River, where crossings can be spectacular.

This traditional camp is perfectly suited to those wanting to focus on the migration and whilst camp could be shared with others at night each party has a private guide with exclusive vehicle use on safari.

Camp is available for a minimum of 3 days and is suited to small groups of family or friends. A typical 10 night all inclusive safari with parks fees for a group of 4 will cost around $9000 per person (2008 rates).

An option is to include the Traditional Mobile Camp with the "greater Serengeti safari" to include Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Loliondo.

The “Wilderness Mobile” safaris
Tanzania's northern circuit or Katavi

This small and private camp is booked exclusively for a maximum of 8 guests (not available on a shared basis). The camp is lightweight, truly mobile and almost constantly on the move in response to local conditions and interests. Katavi wilderness mobile safari

The camp has 4 well equipped walk-in tents with two safari cots each, en-suite facilities attached to the rear with a short drop toilet and bucket shower. Hot and cold water is available on demand. The camp has a private dining tent with limited bar.

  • During the green season between November and May the camp is roaming within the National Parks and community areas of the Serengeti, Loliondo, Tarangire, Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater.
  • During the dry season from June to November the Wilderness Mobile camp moves south to explore Katavi between Paradise, Chorangwa and the Mpunga areas. [...arguably East Africa's ultimate wilderness experience, ideally combined with Mahale]

This camp was designed primarily for comfortable exploration of remoter wilderness areas with the ability to pack up and move in immediate response to changes in game or other local conditions. Private guides and 4WD vehicles allow total freedom to plan flexible itineraries day by day.

The camp is available on an exclusive basis only, for a minimum of 4 days, and ideally suited to small groups of family or friends. A typical 10 night safari offered on an all inclusive basis including parks fees to 4 guests only will cost around $7400 per person (2008 season).
