- This Ilala Lodge "package deal" offers the mid market traveller good value for a three night stay.
- Ilala Lodge is the closest accommodation to the actual waterfalls on the Zimbabwean bank of the Zambezi River. It's situated 2 minutes walk from the Falls and is centrally located in Victoria Falls within very close walking distance of shops, post office and banks.
- It also allows sufficient spare time for "adrenaline junkies" who'd like to include or substitute optional activities like rafting, bungee jumping, a microlight flip – these options must be finalised before you book the package.
- This is the ideal spot and manner in which to conclude a safari in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana or Namibia.
Best time of the year
- The Falls themselves are most spectacular when in full flood in April - the spray is intense so they're best viewed from the air.
- Photographic opportunities from the Rain Forest improve as the annual flood abates from May onwards.
- Birding is exceptional until the migrants head north in April, after that it reverts to excellent!!
Best Access
Victoria Falls is a primary hub into Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia - easily connected from regional and international airports, best from Johannesburg
Costs
- This package is offered on a per person sharing basis and is subject to availability - advance bookings are essential between July and October, during regional holiday periods in December and over Easter
- High season rates apply from July to December, low season rates apply from January to June.
- The package includes: Bed and breakfast accommodation, return airport transfers, a sunset cruise, including snacks and drinks (US$5 pp to be carried and paid direct in US$ cash to National Parks), full day trip to Chobe National Park, a guided tour of the falls and rainforest (US$20 pp to be carried and paid direct to National Parks), a guided tour of the Crocodile Park and Nature Sanctuary (US$5 pp to be paid direct on entry)
- The following costs are specifically excluded from the price: domestic airfares or road transfers to and from Victoria Falls before and after the package; all drinks, lunches, dinner, laundry, Parks fees, single supplements; any levies, taxes, surcharges and visa fees; bank charges, gratuities and purchases of a personal nature; any optional extras (Hwange, rafting etc.)
- Note that Parks fees are subject to change without notice and must be paid in hard currency
