About Masson Safaris....

Ewan and Sallie Masson run all our safaris in Botswana. Ewan has lived in the Kalahari for more than ten years and has acted as consultant to a number of wildlife documentary teams. Sallie has a long association with bush life and is also an expert in the wildlife of northern Botswana.

In our experience, Ewan and Sallie are the only people who know the Kalahari in all its moods and who are familiar enough with its geography to unlock its secrets. In such highly seasonal areas, finding game takes immense skill and knowledge. They are backed up by a full complement of camp staff.

Our safaris are dedicated to game viewing and bird watching, but we feel that this should not be a cause for discomfort. Our accommodation comprises three-metre square full-height frame tents each with twin beds, sheets, pillows, duvets, towels and wash stands. The camps are equipped with refrigerators, a hot shower, flush portaloo toilets, dining suite with tablecloths and napkins, and proper crockery and cutlery - a touch of elegance in the wild. The game viewing vehicles are full open Land Rovers for the best photography.

The exclusivity…

In our view, these last untrodden wildernesses are best enjoyed in a spirit of reflectiveness and relative solitude. Having run many safaris to these areas over the years, we are now convinced that small groups are the only way to experience the stillness of the wild. Accordingly, we shall accept a maximum of only six guests for each safari. Our fixed date departures can run on a minimum of two.

You may choose to reserve an entire bespoke safari exclusively for your own party, or you may like to join one of our fixed-date departures which run through most of the year. We are very happy to organise a special itinerary at the time of the year that suits you. Either way you will enjoy an experience like no other - the wild, often ruthless beauty, that is Africa.
