"The Zimbabwe Situation" and our Zimbabwe
agenda
In April 2000 the political situation in
Zim became untenable. Based in Kariba, serving clients
largely from the US, UK, Canada, Australia/New Zealand and South Africa, all business was transacted in USD.
The Zim authorities were eager to
lay their hands on our hard currency used for paying suppliers in Zimbabwe,
Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.
The risk of the business crashing under Mugabe's regime was certain. So we upped sticks and set up "head
office" in the UK overnight. Which is where we are today.
So partly thanks to Bob we've expanded and
operate safaris throughout East, Central and Southern Africa! It hasn't
been that good for conservationists and other safari outfits who've held out
over the last 11 years in Zimbabwe though...
We remain indebted to our
Zimbabwean roots
...with a two-fold agenda in Zimbabwe
- We've quietly hosted and supported
"The Zimbabwe Situation" since May 2000. A news
portal on Zimbabwe. They're exceptionally committed
individuals who've worked tirelessly and without reward to deliver daily
news about Zimbabwe. We take no credit for their absolute dedication to
this task ...visit

- Zimbabwe's tourism industry was
largely deserted by international tour operators and our traditional markets
soon after Mugabe's rampage in 2000. This stranded Zimbabwe's
wildlife, the conservationists and safari operators. So despite
encouraging every possible boycott against the morally bankrupt leadership
then and now, we actively sell, promote and support safari operators
in Zimbabwe.

Beyond the political mess
here're some active campaigns
- "Rediscover Zimbabwe":
presentations from 2010/2011 to be repeated at
Adventure
Travel Live and
Destinations Show in London in 2012
-

-
WildZambezi.com:
collaborates with ZimParks/ZTA/local bodies and promotes operators and
independent tourism specialists in the Zambezi Valley
-
What's going on in Mana Pools?: An active campaign supporting
responsible, sustainable tourism in Mana Pools.
- Social Media: tireless work by
"Save Mana Pools", ZCTF, ZimGuides, AntiRhinoPoaching and many more.
There's a long list of people working LinkedIn, Twitter plus various
Facebook groups and communities.
- Pro-Zim journalists: there's a
solid band of journalists with balanced views on Zimbabwe's environment and
safari industry...we keep them posted.

We enjoy a bit of fun
too...

One fine day in June 2008, Mugabe declared
himself winner of the election.

So the Devon office extended congratulations
"Well done Bob! We'd like to see the back of you too!"
